German Standard Globe Valve
A globe valve, also known as a stop valve, is a forced-seal valve where the disc moves linearly to shut off flow. Traditionally, with flow entering from below the disc, closing requires significant force. Modern self-sealing designs reverse the flow direction (top-down), reducing closing force and allowing for a smaller stem while improving sealing. The valve is considered fully open when the disc lift reaches 25%-30% of the nominal diameter, as flow is maximal at that point. Its short stem travel and proportional relationship between disc position and flow rate make it highly suitable for reliable shut-off, regulation, and throttling of various fluids.
